Cheese Day!

This Saturday, September 4th, we will have artisan cheese from God's Country Creamery.

You will be able to sample their delectable cheese, purchase a sampler plate ($4-ish depending on the samples), or purchase a chunk of your favorite cheese to savour with a wine tasting, glass or bottle of wine.

Feel free to stay a while, we have plenty of tables and chairs, and enjoy a relaxing picnic in the great outdoors and even if it's raining, depending on Earl, you can sit under the cover of our press pad and still enjoy the view, play cards or just chat!

And don't forget to purchase some extra wine and cheese to take home to share with family and friends.

We had a busy "motoring" weekend when the local chapter of the Corvette and Porche Owners Club visited us on the 14th & 15th September during their drive around the beautiful Chester County countryside.

Here are a few photos from the Sunday when the Porche Owners Club paid us a visit.

Unfortunately we didn't have a camera on hand for the Corvette club on the Saturday.

From West Chester or Unionville follow 162 until you reach Stargazers Road, turn on to Stargazers Road (from this point on there should be a "Winery" sign at each intersection), take a left at a "T" (curve) onto Youngs, take a right onto Laurel and finally a right onto Wheatland (you may think that you've taken a wrong turn here as it appears to be just a small housing development but if you go to the top of the hill you'll see the entrance to our driveway.......and voila you've found paradise!)

If using GPS insert the coordinates for the intersection of 162 and Stargazers Road 39.937991, -75.732464 and follow the directions from there.

Harvest Festival Events

September 25th & 26th and October 2nd & 3rd

Experience the sights and smells of harvest as the Brandywine Valley Wine Trail celebrates the 2010 vintage!

You’ll find grapes galore as we commence harvest activities.

Here at Stargazers we will have artisan cheese from God's County Creamery, lavender products and chocolate truffles from Fat Spike Lavender Company and, of course, our full range of wines, all to sample and purchase.

We will also be holding a Blending Workshop at 1 p.m. for $5

Here you will learn what/how/when/why grapes are selected for blending to achieve a delectable tasting wine. So bring your nose and taste buds along with your imagination and perhaps help the winemaker fashion some of our upcoming releases.

Wine tastings are $5 for 5 samples or you can purchase a Passport online or at any of the 8 Brandywine Valley Wine Trail member wineries. Passports allow for tastings at all 8 member wineries and are valid September 25 through December 30, 2010.

We have plenty of tables and chairs so please feel free to bring your own food or simply purchase a plate of cheese, perhaps a truffle or two and some wine and enjoy a relaxing afternoon picnic in a beautiful location.

Wine is also available for purchase by the glass or bottle.

On September 26th after 5 pm, Flipside Catering will offer an Evolutionary Eating Experience.

Grilled Rib Eye Steak w/ sauteed mushrooms & onions

Grilled Jumbo Shrimp w/ lemon dill cream sauce

Grilled Chicken Picatta w/ fresh tomato & caper sauce

All served with roasted potato & a seasoned vegetable medley

Followed by strawberry short cake for dessert

Press Pad Picnic - September 5th

The next scheduled Press Pad Picnic will be held on the evening of Sunday September 5th, from 7-10pm, and will be catered by Chef Richard Schrack of Moonlight Catering.

The reservation deadline for this event is this Saturday August 28th

The first course will be served at 7:15pm

1st course:
Cold tomato puree garnished with saffron, roasted mixed vegetables and mushrooms.

Solar Celebration Chardonnay: 100% Sun 0% Oak. This wine allows you to taste and smell how special our site is for this white Burgundy grape without the influence of oak. It is fruity with a refreshing finish. A palate pleaser especially for those who do not like the oaky tannins usually associated with Chardonnay.

2nd course:
Mixed Grill - with Ribs, Salmon, London Broil, Bratwurst, Burgers, Veggie Burgers, Grilled Vegetables accompanied by potato salad, tomato cucumber & mozzarella cheese salad and/or coleslaw.
Briar Patch Dornfelder: A wine with rich, red berry fruit and a hint of oak.

3rd course:
Dessert sampler accompanied by sparkling wine.
Traditional: a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, this is the traditional blend for the sparkling wines found in the Champaign Region in France or
Rose: 100% Pinot Noir exhibits the flavors of raspberry and dark cherries characteristic of the variety.

If we're lucky we may catch a glimpse of the Longwood Garden fireworks around 9pm, weather permitting. The picnic, however, is a “rain or shine” event as it will be held under cover on the press pad!

The evening will cost $50 per person, including tax and gratuity.
And we will have all of our wines for sale by the glass and bottle.

Cabernet Franc Rose - best in the Brandywine....

We just wanted to let you know that our Cabernet Franc Rose has been voted the best Rose in the Brandywine to go with a plate of plump shrimp!

Our Cabernet Franc Rose is PQA (Pennsylvania Quality Assurance Group) approved and captures the fruity aspect of the variety in a new style.

It is an especially good buy at $16 a bottle.
