STARGAZERS Vineyard and Winery are owned and operated by Alice and John Weygandt.  The Vineyard was first planted in 1979; the winery was established in 1996. The Vineyard overlooks the Brandywine Creek from its south facing slopes just north of Unionville, PA in Southern Chester County.

DIRECTIONS: We urge you not to rely on GPS systems in finding Stargazers. They tend to select a route on which a bridge is closed or select exceptionally narrow and winding roads which may look like the shortest route to the GPS system but should be avoided. Please click on Map & Directions under the tab More and use these directions please.

The Vineyard is near the "Stargazers Stone" which marks the location of the observatory Mason and Dixon used in surveying the border between Pennsylvania and Maryland. They were known as "the stargazers" because they used celestial navigation to correct their measurements over the ground.

As in the European model of wine growing, the grapes are grown and made into wine by the owners at the Vineyard.

We have an excellent vineyard site in the heart of southern Chester County on a south-facing slope with heat retaining, well drained, schisty soil. When you come to taste our wines, you are welcome to take a stroll in the vineyard to check the development of the coming vintage.

Situated on a hill above the Brandywine Creek, Stargazers Vineyard has its own special environment and microclimate. The French call it "terroir". While we do purchase grapes from other vineyards, all are located in Chester County and are on sites which have similar soils. Every year, the weather varies so that each vintage has its own unique character.

Terroir, individuality and character represent traditional values which we at Stargazers cherish and which result in wine with elegance, complexity and depth of flavor, an intense mineral quality from our schisty Chester County soils, and a lingering finish.
